Birmingham, Stratford Upon Avon and Shakespeare Country
August 15th, 2006
Well Leevi and i are currently into our second week of Cat / house sitting right in the beautiful Midlands the ‘Heart Of The Country’.
The lovely Victorian home we are caring for is in such a great location only a 10 minute train ride to the centre of Birmingham or one stop away from the Solihull town centre. So we are taking advantage of the fresh fruit and meat markets, the great shopping or the relaxing walks along the canals.
The cat we are looking after is a real character his name is Biggles and his is an elderly cat so old that he is missing his bottom teeth just like a little old man. However he is a gorgeous fellow all fluffy and very affectionate.
With such good location we have already spent the day in idyllic home town of Shakespeare in Startford Upon Avon. It was only a short 30 minute train ride for only £4 pounds each. From the train station it was a brief 10 minute walk to the centre of town.
First place to visit was Shakespeare birth home, here we investigated the grounds and the house that all of Shakespeare family lived in . Nice and cosy. Our next stop was lunch under a tree beside the canal with some hot fish and chips, perfect lunch time food when it’s rainy and cold.
Next i dragged Leevi of to Falstaff Experience. It’s a 16th century House Barn which is now a musuem. This is a genuinely haunted museum with a very scary and violent history. We also were told of some remarkable tales relating to the history of Stratford and England. I was a huge scardey cat as we did this tour especially that it was held in the dark! Im saving this one for Mum and Julie when they get here in Nov.
