Update: We added some pics to the bottom of this post!!
Update: Check out Molyvous on google maps. The castle is in the middle surrounded by the red roofs.
In order not to bore you with massive long posts at the end of one of our trips I am taking a brief time out to update you after our first two days in the Greek Isles.
We arrived on the Isle of Lesvos yesterday afternoon and made our way the “resort” we are staying at. After a quick trip into town to pick up some essential supplies (olives, ouzo, cheese, bread and tomatos) we headed back for a swim in the pool.
After our swim I fell alseep from 7pm to 7am in the morining. Sarah stayed up and cooked some dinner and went back to the pool. She tells me the view from our resort of the village at night is beautiful. Guess I will have to wait till tonight to see it.
We woke this morning had a quick bite of breaky and headed into the castle that overlooks Molyvous and the Turkish mainland. The castle hasnt seen any kind of upkeep for a very long time but does provide the best views of the water and village.
After our visit we headed to the village through a maze of windy, steep cobble stone roads. We found a nice little cafe that also overlooked the beach and enjoyed a great feed of Greek Salad, calamari and fetta filled zuchinni flowers. I washed mine down with a greek coffee that will probably take a while to get used to and sarah took the sensible option of white wine.
Feeling truely satisfied we made tracks to the little harbour and breakwall. The ocean is crystal clear azure blue. Small little fish dart around the rock edges of the wall while fishermen cast deeper into the ocean.
After this post we are planning a spot of snorkelling from the volcanic pebble beach.
Wish us luck
